Welcome to Kona Concept Sportfishing

Enjoy great fishing aboard the Kona Concept !

Kona is located on the lee or west side of the Big Island of Hawaii. The mountains of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, with elevations of almost 14,000 feet, protect Kona from the trade winds and make it possible to fish in calm waters most days of the year. The water depth drops dramatically so that just a few miles offshore you can be fishing in water over 6000 feet deep. What this means is there is there is world class fishing in the deep calm Pacific just minutes from Honokohau harbor

Throughout the year one can find blue marlin ranging from 120 to 1200 pounds, striped marlin, occasional black marlin, short billed spearfish, ono (wahoo), mahi mahi (dorado), and ahi (yellowfin tuna) which can weigh up to 200 pounds.

Some people are interested in fishing for the large blue marlin and tuna, and others are happy to fish for skipjack tuna. The skipjack tuna, aku in the Hawaiian language, range from 2 to 20 pounds and are great fun for kids as well as for adults. Fishing for aku can often provide more action and fun for those who don’t have the patience to look for big game fish.

If you would like to view the beautiful coastal landscape of the Big Island up close and fish at the same time, we can troll for ono in shallower water along the coastline.

Our charters are for half day (4 hours), 3/4 day (6 hours), and full day (8 hours). Please contact us for more information, availability, and rates.
